Ear Microsuction
Ear microsuction is one of the safest and most effective ways to remove excess ear wax, helping to restore hearing, relieve discomfort and improve overall ear health. Using a specialised medical suction device, wax is removed gently and precisely under direct vision, without the need for water or syringing.
EAR MICROSUCTION

Ear Microsuction
Ear microsuction is a safe, gentle and highly effective method of removing excess ear wax using a specialised medical suction device. Unlike traditional ear syringing, microsuction does not use water, making it a cleaner, more comfortable treatment with a lower risk of complications.
A consultation is required before treatment to assess your ears and ensure microsuction is the safest and most appropriate option for you.

How it Works
Your appointment begins with a thorough consultation and ear health assessment.
Using an illuminated otoscope or microscope, the practitioner carefully examines your ear canal and eardrum.
If microsuction is suitable, a fine, low-pressure medical suction device is used to gently remove excess ear wax and debris from the ear canal.
Throughout the procedure, the practitioner can clearly see inside the ear, allowing for precise and controlled wax removal.
Once complete, your ears are re-examined to ensure the ear canal is clear and healthy.
Why is a Consultation Needed?
Not everyone is suitable for immediate ear wax removal. Your consultation allows us to:
Assess the cause of your symptoms.
Check for signs of infection, inflammation or damage to the ear.
Ensure microsuction is the safest treatment for you.
Discuss your medical history and any previous ear problems.
Explain the procedure and answer any questions you may have.
If treatment is not appropriate, we will advise you on the most suitable next steps or refer you to your GP if necessary.
What to Expect
The consultation is quick, comfortable and completely non-invasive.
If your ears are suitable, microsuction can usually be carried out during the same appointment.
Most treatments take between 15–30 minutes, depending on the amount and consistency of the ear wax.
You may hear some suction noise during the procedure, but it should not be painful.
There is little to no downtime, and most people return to their normal activities immediately afterwards.
